Architects and designers are always looking for new ways to open up buildings to the outdoors. It's a trend that has spawned new joinery options in recent years, some of which are featured in this Gisborne project.
The Portside Hotel, owned by the Markham Group, was designed to maximise a harbourside location. To this end every suite opens up to a balcony, and features Anotec Dark Bronze joinery from the Fletcher Heavy Duty Residential Suite, supplied by Fisher Aluminium in Gisborne.
The luxury units feature bifold doors, while the two-bedroom units have a combination of bi-parting and single ranchsliders. Bi-parting ranchsliders® are also used for the single-bedroom units, while the studios feature single ranchsliders.
All the joinery has a grey-tint laminate – as has the 150mm Flushglaze faceted glass wall specified for the soaring atrium. The full-height atrium features mezzanine lounge areas that overlook a swimming pool and the harbour beyond.
